OMG ..
... this is frightening. After listening to Sarah Palin "explain" her foreign policy experience to Katie Couric how can anyone seriously think this person should or could be vice-president?
COURIC: You've cited Alaska's proximity to Russia as part of your foreign policy experience. What did you mean by that?
PALIN: That Alaska has a very narrow maritime border between a foreign country, Russia, and on our other side, the land-- boundary that we have with-- Canada. It-- it's funny that a comment like that was-- kind of made to-- cari-- I don't know, you know? Reporters--
COURIC: Mock?
PALIN: Yeah, mocked, I guess that's the word, yeah.
COURIC: Explain to me why that enhances your foreign policy credentials.
PALIN: Well, it certainly does because our -- our next door neighbors are foreign countries. They're in the state that I am the executive of. And there in Russia--
COURIC: Have you ever been involved with any negotiations, for example, with the Russians?
PALIN: We have trade missions back and forth. We -- we do -- it's very important when you consider even national security issues with Russia as Putin rears his head and comes into the air space of the United States of America, where-- where do they go? It's Alaska. It's just right over the border. It is -- from Alaska that we send those out to make sure that an eye is being kept on this very powerful nation, Russia, because they are right there. They are right next to -- to our state.

St. Teresa d'Avila's 'Nada te Turbe'
Nada te turbe
Nada te espante
Quien a Dios tiene nada le falta
Solo Dios basta
Todo se pasa
Dios no se muda
La paciencia todo lo alcanza
Let nothing disturb you,
nothing afright you.
Whom God possesses
in nothing is wanting.
Alone God suffices.
All things are passing.
God never ceases.
Patient endurance attains all things.
Sung by Mina Mazzini ... hmmm ... listen to something else by Mina.

Frozen Grand Central
On a cold Saturday in New York City, the world’s largest train station came to a sudden halt. Over 200 Improv Everywhere Agents froze in place at the exact same second for five minutes in the Main Concourse of Grand Central Station. Over 500,000 people rush through Grand Central every day, but today, things slowed down just a bit as commuters and tourists alike stopped to notice what was happening around them. Learn more ...

SMS Daily Office Readings: Yes it is true ... you can get the bible text references for Daily Office Readings from your phone any time and any where by simply texting the word "readings" to 41411. A sample response with the verse numbers of the morning psalms, evening psalms, old testament, new testament and gospel readings is shown in the illustration to the left. Hmmmmm ... you're away from your computer and can't access the online Daily Office Prayer Aid so what are your choices? You could sort through pages 934 to 1001 in the Book of Common Prayer to find the day's readings ... or just text the word "readings" to 41411 and then turn to your bible ... you've got one handy don't you? And don't forget standard text messaging rates for your phone service apply ... but you've already bought a text messaging plan ... yes?Friday, February 29, 2008

Search Selected Improved: I was bored this morning and decided to tune the Search Selected @ feature in the menu at right so it will work with Firefox as well as IE ... and now it does work fine in Firefox but only works in IE if you refresh the page ... argh ... I should just stick with Sudoku if I want to be frustrated ... and I'm thinking I should just stick with Firefox.

Proper 17 Sunday September 2
Readings: Ecclesiasticus 10:(7-11)12-18 ; Hebrews 13:1-8 ; Luke 14:1,7-14 ; Psalm 112
" Let mutual love continue. " Hebrews 13:1
Is there any reason to say anything more? If we truly focused on and followed this advice which so succinctly summarizes what we read as the greatest commandments in Matthew 22:37-40 , Mark 12:29-31 and Luke 10:27 ... would we really need to spend so much time in scribishly debating arrogance, pride, where to sit at the table, or who to invite for dinner and why? I'm surprised this bible verse isn't available on a t-shirt from cafepress .
